Always a bridesmaid & never a bride
No one can know how that feels inside
Put on a smile, let the world see no tears
Hide all the thoughts, hide all the fears
Fill my life with men I can't keep
Hoping that one might take the leap
And give me what I so long to have
Why do they all have to mess up my plan?
I can't say I don't love the attention
Even when it's negative affection
Why am I crying? What did I just say?
I know I'm supposed to hide this away
I'm the strong one they need for advice
I don't know why, & I've told them twice
Look out for my friends, let them cry on my shoulder
Not letting them know how they add to the boulder
Someday I'll be honest, I'll say how I feel
Until then, let everyone think the smile is real
